Biography
Portion became an entity one rainy Sunday afternoon in late 1997. Four childhood friends were discussing life, love & music in their local boozer. Under the influence of a few jars Brett, Barry, Ben and Mark decided to form a band, hoping this would help them meet some interesting women. Quickly uniting themselves with a vocalist in the form of their old friend Blaine they dubbed themselves Portion and strode out into the night to buy some equipment. Several rather cold months in Marks mum's garage later, the whole band could play their instruments and their differing tastes had been amalgamated into their own unique sound.
Since then they have struck out all over the country playing venues like the Barfly, The Dublin Castle, The Soundhaus, The Bull and Gate and The Thirst Club supporting artists such as Tim Booth, The Crimea, My Awesome Compilation, The Black Velvets, The Dears, The Modern & the Suffrajets. They have earned a reputation as an explosive live act that combine their often-ferocious stage shows with Blaine's own brand of cabaret terrorism! Their differing tastes still produce a sound that is all their own, a twisted blend a cheeky pop, punk, heavy rock and Portion. Portion would one day like to afford enough group therapy to stop referring to themselves in the third person.
